The Big 5 Show 2006: October 28 - November 1, 2006 : Dubai International Exhibition and Convention Centre, Dubai, U.A.E.

Welcome at the German pavilion at THE BIG 5 SHOW 2006! Visiting the Big 5 Show in Dubai means you simply cannot miss the German pavilion.

In 2006, the official German pavilion will cover about 6,000 sqm in the new Zabeel hall. More than 300 German companies will offer high-quality products and services all related to the construction sector. Not surprisingly, Germany represents the biggest national group as in previous years. Trade relations between the UAE and the Federal Republic of Germany have grown continuously. Both sides are aware that successful business in the long run requires confidence and reliability among the partners. In 2005, Germany’s overall exports increased by 22 % to 4,312 million EURO (19,680 million AED).

Among this general export stream from Germany to UAE, about 16 % or 702 million EURO (3,204 million AED) contained capital goods in terms of mechanical engineering. In 2005, the German market share amounted about 14 % in terms of international machinery exports to the UAE.

But Germany does not only have a leading position in the area of investment goods. Also durable consumer goods enjoy an internationally high reputation due to its outstanding technology and design.

The German Pavilion at The BIG 5 Show 2006 offers all visitors a platform for informing themselves on the wide range of products and technologies made by German companies. In a close exchange of experience with exhibitors, they can consult on the use of the right product for the right purpose and analyse and arrange all kinds of possible future cooperation.

The German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi), the Association of the German Trade Fair Industry (AUMA) as well as VDMA - German Engineering Federation wish all exhibitors and visitors a successful trade fair visit, interesting contacts and conversations and a good exchange of experience between partners.

Eternit AG Germany:

Fibre cement for roof, facade and interior applications. Eternit AG is a manufacturer of high quality products for roofing, facades and interior applications. Eternit belongs to the Belgian Etex group. Etex is working in 39 countries and realized in 2005 an annual turnover of more than 1.500 mill euros. The product range comprehended fibre cement roofing slates, corrugated sheets, small and large sizes façade boards, cement bonded particle boards and render panels made from calcium silicate.

Highest degree in construction and formation with roof slates and facade slates. With small sizes fibre cement slates from Eternit it’s easy to realize slanting and most slanting roof areas, particular on chimneys or dormers. Eternit provides 10 different colours and five different laying structures, as well as the surface smooth and structure.

Ventilated rain screen cladding with Eternit facade boards. For big façade areas are big size façade boards from Eternit highly suited. These boards are incombustible (class 2) and can be used for refurbishment, renovation and as well for new constructions. Those boards will be supplied with a varnish surface (natura), as throughcoloured sheet (…) and with a colour coated surface (structura). The very high colour stability is a benefit especially from the throughcoloured boards. The biggest usable size is 3.100 x 1.500 mm. As all big size boards of Eternit they can be used for ventilated cladding as well as for interior applications.

Interior applications with duripanel. The three layer cement bonded particle board “duripanel” offer various possibilities for interior applications and floor design. Beside the basic board in the material-typical colour, since this  year are also throughcoloured boards (…) available. Eternit offers anthracite  and ruby colour tones with a sanded surface. The three layer wall build-up
grants a high quality surface and colour as well as accurate cutted edges. The  core layer contain rough splinters, the outer layer is composed of fine
splinters. All usual tools for woodwork can be used.

Damp resistant building boards bluclad aqua. In particular strongly by humidity  stressed areas need special treatment. For this purpose Eternit developed the building board bluclad aqua. The board made from calcium silicate is extremely damp steady and resistant against mould and bacteria. The plane, light green surface of the board can be papered, tiled or plastered as well as paint. Bluclad aqua can be installed easily on wood or metal sub-constructions. The building boards have bevelled longitudinal edges for perfect installation
results.

Dubai, UAE - December 1, 2003: Samsung Electronics, the world leader in digital appliances will unveil their state-of-the-art products reiterating their supremacy at the Big 5 Show in Dubai. The highlight of the Samsung pavilion will be the new DVM (Digital Variable Multi) system with the world’s first PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) compressor in air conditioning.

The Samsung DVM advantage lies in providing just one single outdoor source for multiple indoor applications, resulting in massive savings on energy and costs.

Experts have commended Samsung’s technological ability to produce an effective air conditioning system for use in the Middle East and other regions of extreme heat. According to Chief Engineer Radhi Al Asafra at SASO, a top agency in air conditioner inspection, ”This was an amazing experience. This air conditioner has power beyond what is normally expected. Our test results have clearly proven Samsung’s technological expertise has managed to overcome all the problems plaguing compressor cooling operation.”

The DVM air conditioning system is operated by a variable-capacity compressor and is accommodated by multiple evaporators (indoor units). It is the next-generation modular system in the world of high-efficiency air conditioning. It has undoubtedly changed the face of cooling associated with high-rise buildings. It provides a broad range of different applications for settings such as offices, hotels and schools.

Samsung Gulf Electronics Senior Manager Mr. Keun Sang Yoo, Senior Manager, Home Appliance Division said, ”Samsung has applied its digital technology to develop a completely new air conditioner concept that has undergone more than a year of clinical trials and has been certified by leading agencies. In addition, Samsung’ extremely powerful UTR (Ultra Tropical Rotary) technology has been applied to provide optimal indoor cooling in temperatures of 54°C and higher. We are now happy to present our latest offerings to our valued customers in the Middle East. In the process, we have written a new chapter in the history of air conditioners.”

Samsung believes that the DVM system will generate a huge response from consultants, installers and owners alike. Aside from the DVM, the Samsung pavilion will also showcase the latest UTR (Ultra Tropical Rotary) compressor in split and window AC. Duct and package air conditioners will also be exhibited.

In the refrigeration segment, Samsung is displaying the SBS (Side-By-Side) refrigerators including the state-of-art Homepad Internet refrigerator. Also on display are Samsung’s strategic new products across living appliances namely Vacuum Cleaners (Twin Cyclone filtration system), Microwave Oven (Sensor Technology), Washing Machines (The BIG wash with 4D technology) and cosmetic cool kits - each of them promising a distinctive consumer benefit.

The Big 5 show is another avenue to highlight the technological progress made by the Samsung brand over the years. Samsung Electronics, the regional and global leader in digital convergence technology, has been once again recognised as the fastest growing brand in the world. Business Week magazine and Interbrand Consultancy annual survey of the top 100 global brands, ranks Samsung as the world’s 25th largest brand, an improvement on its 34th place in 2002 and 42nd place in 2001. Samsung’s brand has registered a 31 per cent growth over last year, more than doubling its value from $5.2 billion in 2001 to $10.8 billion in 2003.
