CHEMICAL ENGINEERING PILOT PLANT (CEPP), the largest research and
business development centre in specialty chemicals is situated in
a beautiful campus of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Skudai, Johor
Darul Ta’zim. Apart
from its main role in developing new and innovative
products/processes from natural resources, it is also a place to
train plant personnel (from plant operators to managers) with a
view to upgrade their competencies through practical experience.
The first integrated
installation of its kind in South East Asia (designed by Malaysian
and German consultants), CEPP features a comprehensive selection
of semi-industrial scale process equipment complete with full
instrumentation and control setup.
Some of these equipment are Distillation Column, Catalytic
and High Pressure Reactors, Extractors, Bioreactors, Short Path
Evaporator, Crystallizer, Membrane Separators, analytical
equipment and others.
Since 1998, CEPP has
conducted professional courses for staff from more than 300 local
and overseas companies in the areas of process and plant
technology, business and management.
Companies like PETRONAS, BP, SHELL, BASF, IDEMITSU, TITAN,
HUNTSMAN continuously send their staff to be trained by our
professional lecturers both from the academia and the industry.
Overseas companies from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Sudan,
Indonesia and Singapore have also sent their staff to attend
courses using our pilot plant in Johor and also at our branch
campus in Kuala Lumpur.
For the oil, gas and
petrochemical industry, the courses offered are in the forms of
short courses, executive certificates and professional MSc. in
Process Plant Management programme.
The innovative Master programme was designed with the main
objectives being:
i)
to engender the competencies key to successful management
of complex plant operation, and
ii)
to generate an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the
technical, financial and organizational factors critical to
managing process plant.
Qualified engineers and
scientists who aspire to climb-up the ladder in the company
management will find this programme very beneficial.
Apart for the oil, gas and
petrochemical industry, CEPP also offers certificate and diploma
courses for the wellness industry through its subsidiary, CEPP
Wellness Centre (CAC). It
offers courses for those who wish to practice Complimentary
Medicine like Holistic Treatment, Aromatherapy, Herbal Medicine
and Reflexology.
