Education & Vocation Counselling Show makes its debut at Expo Centre Sharjah.....

Event showcases over 50 universities and other institutions of higher education
The Education and Vocation Counselling Show made an impressive debut at Expo Centre Sharjah on March 6, 2005.
The show, which will run till March 11, 2005, is being held under the patronage of Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qassimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah.
The six-day show was opened jointly by Jamal Mohammed Al Muheiri, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education and Ahmed Mohammed Al Midfa, Chairman of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce & Industry.
The dignitaries present at the opening ceremony held at Expo Centre Sharjah at 10 am were Mr Mohammed Salem Al Mosaharrekh, Board Member, Expo Centre Sharjah; Mr Fasahat Ali Khan, Acting Director General, Expo Centre Sharjah; Government officials, Expo Centre Sharjah representatives and other dignitaries.
Mr Al Midfa, during his opening speech, thanked H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qassimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, for his support to the event.
He said the show is a platform dedicated to undergraduate and postgraduate student recruitment and other higher educational opportunities.
It is primarily aimed at UAE’s school leavers, undergraduates and those who are seeking to further their education locally and abroad and will cater to UAE nationals as well as expatriates, he added.
Jointly organised by UAE's Ministry of Education and Expo Centre Sharjah, the Education and Vocation Counselling Show features over top 50 universities and other institutions of higher education from across the Gulf region, including the UAE, and Europe.
More than 30,000 students graduate from UAE schools each year. Of this, a large number is keen to pursue higher education in institutes and universities within the UAE or abroad. The show will be an ideal platform for them to explore higher education opportunities.
The show, besides giving educational institutes direct access to a huge number of fresh school-leavers, undergraduates, working professionals and executives who wish to pursue higher education at home or abroad, will also provide them with excellent opportunities to meet and find local authorised partners and agents.
Participating institutions will also be able to utilise the show as a platform for showcasing their wide range of programmes and services and also for providing aspiring students from the UAE with details of the countries where the institutes are based, their culture, ethnic diversity, attractions, history as well as campus life.
The Education and Vocation Counselling Show, though just in its first edition, is expected to attract no less than 15,000 visitors.
Apart from educational institutions and students, the show will attract higher education policy makers, researchers, teachers, student counsellors and parents.
The Ministry of Education will arrange visits for school students, separately for boys and girls, to the morning sessions of the show.
The show will be open from 10 am to 1 pm in the mornings and from 5 pm to 9 pm in the evenings.
Morning sessions, from 10 am to 1 pm, on March 7 and 9 are dedicated for ladies only.
