41st IATEFL Annual
Conference and Exhibition Aberdeen 18th - 22nd
April 2007:
IATEFL is the International Association of
Teachers of English as a Foreign Language.
Founded in the UK in 1967, it now has over 3,500
members in 100 different countries throughout
the world.
The 41st IATEFL Annual Conference and Exhibition
will take place at Aberdeen from 18th - 22nd
April 2007.
The Aberdeen and Exhibition and Conference
Centre is 2.7 miles north of Aberdeen on
Exhibition Avenue, Bridge of Don, Aberdeen. This
new world-class centre was officially opened in
April 2003 by HRH The Princess Royal. The
plenary space can take up to 2,000 delegates and
there is free car parking for 4,000 cars. There
is a wide choice of accommodation from budget B
& Bs to 5 star hotels in the area.
There are excellent road, rail and air links.
The centre is adjacent to the A90 trunk road.
Aberdeen airport is 15 minutes drive away. The
airport has flight connections to all 4 London
airports and most other UK and N. European
airports.
Aberdeen has many names: The Granite City, The
Oil Capital of Europe, The Silver City by the
Golden Sands and The Floral City. Each name
gives a hint of a special feature. For Aberdeen,
Scotland's third city, has many buildings made
of granite, one of the hardest and most enduring
stones ( Examples are, the turreted Town House,
the Citadel and Marischal College).
The discovery of off-shore oil has brought many
cultures and nationalities here. Aberdeen is a
cosmopolitan metropolis with two universities, a
5 star Maritime Museum and restaurants, coffee
shops and tea rooms aplenty.
There's a fine white sand beach less than a mile
from the city centre and Aberdeen has won the
'Britain in Bloom' contest many times. |

TESOL
France 25th Anniversary: 2006 Colloquium on
Innovation:
As TESOL France marks its 25th Anniversary and
following the success of their recent Best of
BESIG event, run jointly with IATEFL BESIG, this
year’s TESOL France Annual Colloquium is aiming
high. With Innovation as the title there’s
plenty of scope for talks that are stimulating,
interactive and most of all innovating!
There’ll be something for everyone. Cutting edge
technology will be there, but so will new ways
of using Shakespeare, not to mention innovative
– and we mean “innovative” - ways of teaching
grammar. For more information on the colloquium,
taking place 17-18 November 2006 in Paris.
TESOL (Teachers of English to Speakers of Other
Languages) France, an affiliate of TESOL Inc.,
is a non-profit organization of teachers of
English in France. Its purposes are to stimulate
professional development, to disseminate
information about research, books and other
materials related to English, and to strengthen
instruction and research.
TESOL France operates through an Executive
Committee responsible for, amongst other things,
organizing events, publications and membership.
But we also have correspondents in the different
sectors (primary, university, etc.) who keep us
informed of the preoccupations and needs of
their sector. |
