Healthy
Nutrition Day: February 7, 2008 - Al Ain, UAE
Organized by AIPCE, the WORLD WATER ADVOCATE
with a worldwide network....
Healthy Children, Healthy Choices,
Teachers and Parents are in charge!
Doctors will be explaining about Dietary
Behaviors on 7, February 2008.
As a Teacher/parent, the responsibility is to
buy healthy groceries and serve
nutritious food to growing children.
Start by establishing a routine, even if it is
difficult at first. Once you have a routine for
meals (This means a set time
for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks) and
snacks, meal times are more relaxed. Most
children are happier on a schedule and become
hungry at regular times. This is
the most important thing about your parenting
job when the family has a routine.
SPOTLIGHT ON...
Nutrition Standards for Healthy Schools:
Leading the Way Toward Healthier Youth.
Healthy eating is associated with
reduced risk for many
diseases, including the three leading causes of
death: heart disease, cancer, and stroke.Healthy
eating in childhood and adolescence is important
for proper growth and
development and can prevent health problems such
as obesity, dental caries, and iron
deficiency anemia. Most young people
are not following the recommendations set
forth in the Dietary Guidelines for People: of
youth aged 6-19, 67% exceed
dietary guidelines
recommendations for fat
intake, 72% exceed
recommendations
for saturated fat intake. 2 In 2005, only 20.1%
of high school students reported eating fruits
and vegetables five or more times
daily (when fried potatoes and potato chips are
excluded) during the past 7 days.
Making It Happen: School
Nutrition Success Stories and school

sold and offered outside of meal programs will
