Health Awareness Promotion at Al Ain
Women’s College –
Healthy Lifestyle Clinic:
The Health Awareness Promotion
Committee at the Al Ain Women’s
College organized a Healthy
Lifestyle clinic at the college on
May 30th 2005. The participants
included the Department of School
Health, Primary Health Care
Department, Preventive Medicine,
Oasis Hospital, Nutrition Department
of Tawam hospital and Look Optics.
The clinic was held in Room P01 and
students had the opportunity to
avail themselves of such services as
checking their Blood Pressure and
Blood sugar, eye screening and
testing, breast examination,
consulting with nutritionists,
doctors and other health
professionals etc. This clinic also
offered students the opportunity to
ask questions about different health
and wellness issues such as dieting,
exercising, calories, weight loss
etc. |

In addition to the services that
were provided, there were different
kinds of educational materials such
as brochures, posters, booklets etc
that gave more information about
healthy lifestyles, common diseases
and how to prevent those diseases.
Student attended the clinic during
their free periods and or during
their breaks and sometimes some
instructors took their classes to
the clinic.
The idea of promoting health
awareness among our students was
devised sometime during the
2001/2002 academic when we found out
that many of our students had
reported a number of medical
conditions such as, visual problems,
diabetes and anemia, asthma etc.
