German market 'unveiled':
The German Convention Bureau (GCB) will be announcing the results of a new
market research study into the German conference and convention market at a
press conference prior to the opening of IMEX (1st April 2003). The GCB is
a strategic partner of the show and last commissioned market research on a
similar scale in 1999. The results of the study, which sampled 330 German
hotels and convention centres, 1000 conference attendees, 50 companies and
associations and 60 event organisers, will be eagerly awaited by industry
professionals across the EU and worldwide.
CIC expands program into Europe
The Convention Industry Council (CIC) is delighted to announce the expansion
of its certification program for meeting professionals into Europe. In
response to input from European planners and suppliers, the exam format has
been revised to make it country neutral and the new exam will be
administered the day prior to IMEX, Monday 7th April 2003.

The CIC program is endorsed by the 30 member organisations of the CIC
representing more than 98,000 individuals as well as 15,000 firms and
properties involved in the meetings, convention and exhibitions industry.
More than 8,000 meeting professionals have already earned their CMP designation worldwide.

In preparation for the exam there will be a leadership breakfast at IMEX
2003, on Thursday 10th April, to begin planning the study groups that will be available to prepare for the 2004 exam.

Additional information concerning the CMP exam is available from Mary Power at mpower@conventionindustry.org

The CHA represents over 1000 hotels in 35 national hotel associations, making up approximately 114,000 rooms in the Caribbean. Association of Congress Centres), IAPCO (International Association of
Professional Congress Organisers), ESAE (European Society of Association Executives), ASAE (American Society of Association Executives) and the IACVB
(International Association of Convention and Visitor Bureaus).

On the day hosted association buyers will have the opportunity to attend a

turbulent world: The changing roles of International Associations."

German Imex Stand:
Technical innovation at the German imex stand
GCB and WLAN AG are putting in place a high-speed, high-convenience wireless local area network for exhibitors and visitors.

Frankfurt, February 28, 2003. German exhibitors and visitors to the imex will be able to hook  up to the Internet using mobile, wireless high-speed technology. At the German stand A 100,
the GCB German Convention Bureau will be offering innovative wireless local area network (WLAN) facilities through its business partner WLAN AG.

The new exhibition "imex - incorporating Meetings made in Germany" debuts from April 8 to 10, 2003 in Hall 3 at exhibition company Messe Frankfurt, where it will form the central marketplace for the international meetings and conference industry. For conference and
congress delegates in particular, WLAN is an ideal cable-free means of accessing data on
the Web or sending e-mails. What is more, WLAN is unbeatably fast, transmitting data at  about 170 times the speed of a conventional ISDN line.

Wireless connection will enable imex exhibitors under the GCB roof and visitors to the  German stand to work on the move. They can take their laptops around the stand and read
e-mails or trawl the net from any location. The Munich-based company WLAN AG is offering
exhibitors and professional visitors a high-powered WLAN network for the duration of the  show. Visitors to the stand will be able to use the WLAN free of charge. Professional
attendees can test the efficiency of the WLAN for themselves - with competent specialists at
hand to answer all their technical questions.

Imex - incorporating Meetings made in Germany takes place for the first time from April 8-10,  2003 in Frankfurt and annually thereafter. It is organised by Ray Bloom and Paul Flackett in
collaboration with the GCB German Convention Bureau. The exhibition incorporates the meetings marketplace "Meetings made in Germany".

Headquartered in Munich, WLAN AG installs and operates wireless local area networks (WLAN) in business hotels throughout Germany. Servicing more than 100 hotels at present,
WLAN AG is a prominent WLAN hotspot provider. Roaming is possible between hotels  partnered by WLAN AG. All networks are based on the global IEEE 802.11b and WiFi (Wireless Fidelity) standards. www.wlan.de, www.wlangroup.com
