Oman Thanksgiving Ceremony :Thanksgiving is a Time for Tradition and Sharing : Mrs. Enang Bassey Briggs

Thanksgiving Ceremony in honour of Mrs. Enang Bassey Briggs’s Meritorious Contributions to Staff Development activities in Muscat region, Oman.

A thanksgiving cum send off  celebrations will be held in honour of Mrs Briggs who leaves the services of the Ministry of Health, Sultanate of Oman after a long fruitful period of service to the country.

Mrs. Enang Bassey Briggs joined the Ministry of Health on 21st January 2002 consequent on a distinguished career, which comprised a balance of both educational and practical achievement. Her enthusiasm and commitment to continuing education both for staff and her professional development is evident in the many facets of her abilities including psychological counseling, total quality management, auditing, to mention a few.

Following her appointment and training, Mrs. Enang Briggs devoted herself to establishing and developing a regional staff development training frame work which now spans 4 tertiary care hospitals as well as 26 primary health care centers located within the Muscat capital region. Besides she has established an on going professional development programme for those assigned to the staff Development sections and has worked relentlessly to ensure that the services provided meet approved standards.

Mrs. Briggs is credited with compiling the history of nursing in Oman this involved extensive historical research and procurement of photographs documentary with leading figures. The history has been incorporated into a video, which now serves as the only record of the history of health care profession in Oman. With her team

Mrs. Briggs has introduced standards
for the allocation of continuing educational credit hours and also designed and introduced a professional portfolio, which is now being maintained by all health professionals within the nursing profession. The portfolio is central to the Oman Nursing and Midwifery Council licensing process.

Her departure from the service will be greatly felt, however she departs with the knowledge that she has left an impact on the services and individual practitioners.
