  Study in Netherlands:

Netherlands  with its 41,000 square kilo metres has had an attitude of openness towards the rest of the world, not only in business, but also in education, social life and culture. The Netherlands is a place where knowledge, skills, ideas and cultures from all over Europe come together.

Broad-minded and international oriented:
Even as far back as the early 17th century, the Netherlands was an advanced country, with much of its wealth coming from trade. Today, international trade is still the main engine of economic growth in the Netherlands. In fact, the Netherlands is one of the world’s ten leading exporting nations. This small country is home to major multinationals such as Philips, Heineken, ING Bank and KLM. And many other international companies have located their European headquarters in the Netherlands. These include Sony, General Electric and Sara Lee.

A wide choice of international study programmes and courses taught in English
The Netherlands is the first non-English-speaking country to offer courses taught in English. There are now 1000 study programmes and courses conducted entirely in English, so students have a wide choice. You can search our database to find a study programme that might suit you!

The Dutch way of teaching:
Netherlands has received international acclaim for its ground-breaking Problem-Based Learning (PBL) system, which trains students to analyse and solve practical problems independently through emphasis on self study and self-discipline. A large portion of all study programmes is dedicated to writing papers, working in groups to analyse and solve specific problems, acquiring practical work experience through internships, and conducting experiments in laboratories.

Respect for each individual’s opinions and convictions is the national virtue that gives strength to the fabric of the country’s diversified society. It is also the foundation of the teaching method used at most Dutch educational institutions.

The teaching style can be described as student-centred, providing students with the attention and freedom they need to develop their own opinions and creativity in applying their newly acquired knowledge.

There are certain inescapable clichés when describing the Netherlands, bicycles, canals, and windmills probably topping the list. The Netherlands has much to offer in terms of outdoor activities with the flat landscape making the perfect place for biking and walking, and the many waterways providing for a variety of water sports depending on whether the water is frozen or not. Ice skating is particularly popular, and if an especially cold winter freezes all the canals, the entire nation stops to watch the Elfstedentocht (Elven Cities Race), a 120 mile skating marathon. Dutch cities such as Amsterdam demonstrate amazing construction that embraces water with a series of canals. House boats abound. From Amsterdam to Holland, the Netherlands provides a fascinating look at a culture that is both liberal yet proper, that embraces the modern and the traditional.
